Embody elect
Embody ELECT is made up of dancers who are paving the way in the dance community. They are strong in their craft and steadfast in their work to make change in dance spaces. This program is designed for dancers who want to assist and work closely with the Embody faculty, train their bodies while caring for their hearts, and build a community with like-minded dancers.

Embody ELECTs are students and not employees. They do not work as backstage crew, go on coffee runs for faculty, or have expectations as to what they are required to participate in during an event weekend.

Embody ELECTs are encouraged to take breaks and embrace classes and seminars as other attendees do.

Embody ELECTs are given videos of their assigned faculty member(s) combo(s), so they can feel confident getting on stage.

Embody ELECTs over the age of 18, can request to work competition, in which case they will be paid accordingly and be reimbursed for hotel stay on competition night.

Embody ELECTs must attend a *mandatory retreat in Allentown, PA, August 2-4th, 2024. *For unavoidable conflicts (required studio choreography, etc), applicants may request approval from Embody on their application to miss the retreat. If approval is granted, dancers will miss all retreat opportunities and will not be able to participate in the Embody Elect closing show piece.

Embody ELECTs must actively take dance classes outside of Embody weekends

Embody ELECTs must adhere to the 2024-2025 Embody ELECT Code of Conduct

Embody ELECTs must actively promote Embody on their social network accounts

Program Fee: $399
*Need-based scholarships and payment plans are available for Embody ELECT applications submitted by April 1, 2024.

how to become an embody elect
EMBODY ELECT APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Embody ELECT applicants must be at least 9 years of age as of January 1, 2024.

If associated with a studio, applicants must have their studio director’s permission to apply.

A donation of $25 is required upon submission. This tax deductible donation helps Embody build a need based scholarship fund for dancers unable to afford their convention tuition.

Video Submission

Dancers should showcase at least 3 different styles
-
Applicants will be asked to submit 4 different videos
-
1 video of dancer performing the audition combo choreographed by Hayden J Frederick (click here for tutorial)

1 video of the dancer performing someone else's choreography (maximum of 3 minutes)
-
1 video of improv in any style (maximum of 1 minute and 30 seconds)
-
1 “ wild card” video submission of the dancer’s choice (maximum of 3 minutes)

Results
Our review panel selects dancers based on movement quality, technique, raw performance and how well they align with Embody’s mission.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until June 1st, 2024 OR if the program fills sooner, applications will close prior to the final deadline. Dancers may submit their application at any time and will receive their results as shown below:
First round of result emails: February 15, 2024
Second round of result emails: April 15, 2024
Third round of result emails: June 15, 2024
Please note, dancers may be waitlisted to the last round of applications. If waitlisted, dancers will be notified via email on the first or second round of result emails.
